Australia's new Prime Minister (no really)

Want to congratulate all of you in Aus on your first female head of government!  And from what I see, Julia Gillard--bright, articulate, attractive--would fit right in with the lovely ladies of IFM.  Think there's any chance the PM might FM someday?

Re: Australia's new Prime Minister (no really)

Ooh is the election over already! :) I heard they just started campaigning :) I hope she wins but I've heard it's on a knife edge.

Julia would do a great IFM, but a mainstream politicians IFM would exist in an alternative universe where Jesus wasn't a virgin but (like the Buddha) married, had a sex life and children and lived into his 80s and all that experience was part of our dominant religion and social influence. Probably not the answer you were expecting :) ha ha. Julia looks great, is personally empowered and seems well capable and I hope she gets in. Hilary Clinton would do a good IFM too. Wouldn't their lucubrations be interesting, especially Hillary.

Re: Australia's new Prime Minister (no really)

Julia Gillard is not married and doesn't even believe in Jesus, unlike Tony Abbot (the opposition leader) who still goes around in public saying he'd tell his daughters (his very beautiful, 21, 18 and 16 year old daughters) that virginity is quote "the greatest gift you can give someone, the ultimate gift of giving".

Obviously he believes in Jesus, but strangely maintaining your virginity seems to be a greater gift then dying for the sins of man, oh whatever he's usually in a state of confusion and forgets the impact of his words.

Anyway women (and also progressives) generally don't like him (not just because of virgin-gate, we've not liked him for a while now, for a plethora of reasons, not least of all, he's a moron) so the election is not really on a knife edge, last opinion polls showed labour (Gillard's government) 10 points ahead. It'd have to be some sort of Christmas miracle for Abbot to win.

What I think will happen and what I hope will happen is that the Greens get the balance of power in the senate. Then we'll have a moderate government who has to negotiate with the left, rather then more traditionally the (often heavily religious) right.

Oh and if any party leader was going to do anything, I think it'd be Bob Brown (leader of the Greens) to do Beautiful Agony.

if we are congradulating countries on progressive leadership, i'd like to give a shoutout to Johanna Sigurdardottir, the PM of iceland, for gorgeously marrying her beloved life-partner.

Re: Australia's new Prime Minister (no really)

Statement from the Whitehouse - Barack Obama wrote:

Look, If I'm offered an IFM and Hillary is denied even the chance to be considered, I think that would be unfair and send out the wrong message to folks at a time when our genuine co-operation is so clearly visible everywhere else.

So I ask you to give Hillary equal consideration and I'd be more than pleased to show that the person who holds the responsibility of the most powerful office in the world, is and has always been a sexual being.

Thankyou xx
And thanks to blissed for conveying this message.

Barack

Re: Australia's new Prime Minister (no really)

Congrats for electing the greens MP Adam Bandt in Melbourne. I liked his acceptance speech where he gave his support to same sex marriage and said what the world needs is more love not less. I can see why he got elected.
