Update if interested

I was functionally blind in the left eye already, potential loss of right is very depressing. Below is a lengthy copy and paste of the last 2 days that I am using for forum and email replies.
Thanks to those who replied to my prior post.

Cause – Bubble behind retina to the left of macula and slightly below a central horizontal line
Current condition – Can’t see as well as I could before the Laser procedure
Mental condition – Depressed with occasional glimmers of hope

Thu May 4, 4:35pm  – saw results of OCT showing retina pushed in and seepage

Thu May 4, 6:35pm  – had 4:00pm procedure, 83 seconds of intense light

Thu May 4, 9:30pm  – TV blurred at the point of the bubble, no contrast or details just grayed out oval

Fri May 5, 1:15am  – Woke up and saw dancing brilliant green shapes in the center of eye. Sometimes there was 1, sometimes 3, sometimes in straight line horizontal, diagonal, or vertical, sometimes in a circle. Shapes were visible with eyes open and closed. Shapes looked like alphabetic characters from some foreign alphabet, Greek, Asian, Romulan, and Klingon. Etc. Slept poorly worrying about apparent vision loss.

Fri May 5, 8:00am – discovered level of vision was far less than previous day and could not read what I had written previous day even with magnifying glass. Brilliant green dancing light still present most of time, would disappear and then come back

Fri May 5, 9:00am – Called specialist in a state of panic, was told someone would call me sometime in morning.

Fri-May 5, 12:00pm – Called again and got message that office closed till 1:30 for lunch.

Fri May 5, 1:30pm – Called again, was told clinic was very busy, somebody would try to call me sometime. By now the gray oval had almost disappeared, and the green dancers were pale white or gray and only showing occasionally.

Fri May 5, 3:15pm – Received call from nurse (first of 3) to advise vision loss was not uncommon, and she acted as an intermediary between specialist and me. Determined green dancers were not common and were unexpected. Even though gray blur has disappeared I am unable to focus with the eye and reading is impossible. She said she would call on Monday and suggested the eye had been extremely stressed by the PCT and Laser and vision may return to its state before the procedure. No time frame was given.

Fri May 5, 8:00pm – Green dancers are back but not as vivid or as well defined, they now remind me of a cartoon bat form Bugs Bunny toons as far as motion goes. TV is still blurry.

Sat May 6, 2:00am – woke up to green blurry dancers again, still there with eyes closed. Also have new effect, can see a shape similar to solar eclipse with streamers, inside is not round but matching shape with streamers, colors varied from shades of gray/black, midnight blue, very dark green. This image would suddenly be there then fade out, then reappear in a different color. Watched these and the dancers till I fell asleep again.

Sat May 6, 6:00pm – 48 hours is now up, opened the blinds and turned lights on and started to type this diary. Icons on desktop vanish in front of my eyes, difficulty reading the screen and many typos have had to be fixed.

To be continued.

Ashmedi, I'm aware of the fact that you and I haven't "talked", but I don't need to know you to feel sympathy for your plight, and also, from your posts I've certainly formed the opinion that you are a very pleasant individual. Therefore I hope that you don't mind me wishing you all the best and first and foremost a rapid recovery.

Best wishes from

Thanks Noway and Burlesque.

Burlesque, I don't mind at all, in fact I welcome it. I do my best to be social, and I love talking to people.

I am also prone to asking questions to satisfy my curiosity. So having said that, where did you get your alias and why?

PS: In the last 2 hours since getting back on the computer I think my vision may have returned almost to the pre-laser condition.

Ginal results may not be known for 4 to 6 weeks

Re: Update if interested

If I close my eyes and press a little on my eyeball, I've always seen the solar elcipse effect and usually, it's very vivid. So that is a reaction to stressing the eye very slightly. But it's temperary, and as the effects and shapes you've seen have been changing I'd hazzard a guess that they are too. looking at the 3rd and 4th lines of your signiture I'm certainly not going to tell you to cheer up smile but your being very brave and open about it all, so please hang in there, We're thinking of you smile

Re: Update if interested

I should have refreshed the page before posting I didn't know you'd posted an update. Well if your site is nearly back to the way it was before, *fingers crossed* lets hope it continues to improve until it's actually better than it was before.

Thanks Bliss. I am cautiously optomistic, and will continue to "Not cheer up"

Re: Update if interested

Whatever you do, it is indeed imperative that you do not cheer up! smile

I'm glad to see that there has been some improvement. I suppose these things do tend to take a little time. Patience is of the essence, even though I can understand how that is difficult in your situation.

I just thought "Burlesque" is descriptive of both myself and this site. One of the definitions is "drolly and absurdly imaginative", which is me at my best, and of course, a burlesque show is a variety show with quite a bit of sexual innuendo and sometimes strip tease performances, so I was quite pleased when that word occurred to me as I was beating my head against my desk trying to come up with an alias!

Here's to Continued Improvement, Ashmedi!

Re: Update if interested

Thanks Burl, satisfied my curiosity for the moment wink

Elf, you are too kind. I can read the normal font now that I have made some changes to my display, but I will admit that the bold does stand out. I do a lot of posting on a PT Cruiser forum and the members there post on one thread called "Good Morning Sharm" (tgat's me) in large or bold now, however that is the only thread they do that on. I suspect it was an attempt to improve my mood and outlook and it did work, I chuckle every time I read the messages in there. smile

I'll keep your kkind offer in mind, but I think if it got to the stage where I needed that, I would be past the point of using a computer at all because I wouldn't be able to see the icons or even open email.

Sadly they are not. Tough to tell but I think I saw better before Laser. Tough to remember from one day to the next exactly how the vision compares. Could be weeks maybe, wait and see. sad

Sorry to hear that ashmedi.  I suppose you just have to be patient.  (That's easy for me to say I know).  We are all rooting for you mate.

Thanks guys, it is a frustrating experience and I hope none of you ever have to go thru it.

Hey Tellin, We are practically next door neighbors. Don't know how deep into PA you are but I'm just on the other side of Lake Erie about 120 miles from Detroit.
